Our civilians worked together to make a period North Carolina State flag for our soldiers.

Hello and thank you for stopping by.

I never could have pictured myself as a reenactor.  Camping in a tent with insects, and critters, pouring down rain, high winds, the sun beating down on you, cooking with out electricity, and most of all walking around all day in a corset?  You’re kidding right?!

When my husband told me he wanted to start doing civil war reenacting, I told him fine, no problem, but there was no way that he was going to get me to do that.  I would be happy to come watch, but I am not an outside kind of person.

Surprise!!!  I went into a shop in Gettysburg while he was at a meeting, and just looked around.  One of the girls there helped me try on a few dresses. Kapow!  I bought a dress, a corset and the shoes that night.  It was just a camp outfit.  I figured that I would be able to wear it when I visited the camp.  Well I didn’t just visit, I now camp with the unit, and I cook for several of the guys.

When I tried that dress on it was like stepping into a time machine.  There is a whole world of etiquette, politeness, history, chivalry, and more.

As a reenactor, you represent a page in history.  Spectators come to reenactments, living histories and encampment to see first hand what life might have been like years ago.

As for myself and some others I know, we try very hard to portray the lives of our ancestors as accurately as possible.  We have done research on the clothes they would have worn, proper etiquette, and rituals of that time period.

With this web site, I will try to pass some of this research along to hopefully make it a little easier for the next lady who’s husband wants do this hobby.  I hope you can find something on this site that helps you.

The lady in this picture may have been employed by the army as a post mistress.  Women held many positions in the military without having to put on a man's uniform and hide her identity.

These are some of the ladies from our unit.  They preform many jobs in support of our unit.  We have from left to right: Miss Caitlin, Miss Kathy, Miss Michele, Miss Ginger, and bottom left Miss Victoria.
